These are the key elements involved in marketing a good or service, and they interact significantly with each other. Considering all of these elements is one way to approach a holistic marketing strategy.

There are a lot of debates in marketing about whether the 4Ps of Marketing Mix or 4Cs of Marketing Mix are more useful, but I think it is about the balance of the 4Ps and 4Cs.

When you are strategizing your overall marketing efforts, the 4Ps of marketing can help you focus your messaging, call to actions, purpose, and profitability. When you are approaching people, the 4Cs of marketing can help you double check that you are using permission marketing, providing relevant information, and not intruding on anyone’s space.

When you start looking up or chatting about the 4Ps or 4Cs of Marketing, generally the marketing mixes are being referred to. However, there are other 4Ps and 4Cs of marketing such as with Strategy and Communications that could not only broadly be up for discussion, but also are related to the marketing mixes.

4 Ps of Marketing Mix

The four Ps of marketing—product, price, place, promotion—are often referred to as the marketing mix.

4 Ps of Strategy

The four “Ps” of strategy- perspective, position, plan and pattern, each of which represents a different way to approach your service strategy.

4 Cs of Marketing Mix

The 4Cs to replace the 4Ps of the marketing mix: Consumer wants and needs; Cost to satisfy; Convenience to buy and Communication.

4 Cs of Marketing Communications

The 4Cs for marketing communications: Clarity; Credibility; Consistency and Competitiveness.
